Muay Thai is Thailand’s national sport and is often called the art of eight limbs. This comes from the use of punches, kicks, elbows, and knee strikes, creating eight points of contact. With a history spanning over a thousand years, modern Muay Thai officially moved into the ring in 1921.
While Muay Thai is best known for its striking, it also includes strong clinch work, incorporating balance, control, and throwing techniques. It’s a practical, disciplined art that builds both physical ability and mental toughness.
At WMAC, we focus on creating a positive and supportive training environment. We train hard, but we train as a team. Everyone is encouraged to push themselves while helping others improve along the way. Our goal isn’t just to build strength and fitness, but to develop a strong technical understanding of Muay Thai.
Muay Thai is a great way to improve coordination, balance, and focus. It builds confidence, sharpens discipline, and offers a powerful outlet for stress, all while learning real, practical skills.
Whether you’re training for fitness, confidence, or with the aim of stepping into the ring, Wickhams Martial Arts will support you every step of the way. Our ranking system provides clear goals and progression, starting from White Top and working through to Black Top. Grading days are held regularly in a friendly, encouraging environment, challenging you to improve your fitness, skill, and mindset at each level.
