Bjc Muay Thai Teens
Muay Thai, which is Thailand’s national sport, is referred to as the “art of eight limbs”. This is due to making use of punches, kicks, elbows and knee strikes, thus using eight “points of contact”. It is briefly taught in schools as part of their sport curriculum Muay Thai has been practiced for over one thousand years, although the modern form officially began in a ring in 1921. Focused predominantly on the striking elements, Muay Thai also incorporates grappling and throwing techniques from the clinch.
We at WMAC focus on ensuring a positive training environment built on training hard while working as part of team, and helping each other improve. Not only to become physically and mentally strong but also to have a deep technical understanding of the art of Muay Thai. We train hard. We train smart. We challenge ourselves and improve daily.
The Teens program is structured so that in each session the teenager will learn not only the offensive techniques of Thai boxing but also the defensive. Each week the set drills will be practiced as a group, and then they have to use them with the trainers pad work section of the class. While learning new skills each week, they are challenged to train hard and also to do their best. Trainers correct and show the techniques during the classes. The drills that are done in class help with coordination, focus, balance, stress relief and confidence.
The basic class starts with warm ups, preparing the student for the class ahead. The second section focuses on the drill of the week and the students are encouraged to work through the skills before applying them in the third section (pad work). In the program, Teens are encouraged to spar, but only if they wish. Once they have been training for a while and have the skill to defend, we encourage it for their future development. The sparring section is where the student can test and refine their skills.
